Updated ICT schemes of work

I am think ahead about changing our ICT scheme of work next year. The QCA schemes of work are years out of date and bear no reflection on the different ICT skills that are needed in 2007. Where is social networking? What about blogging? How about Wikipedia? Perhaps downloading music and podcasting ought to be taught now.

I was wondering if anyone has anything new and exciting that they use in ICT. In particular I am wondering whether social networking is used in the classroom.

Any thoughts?

We use Smart Learning as our ICT scheme.
The children really enjoy it but we do modify it to include blogging for our year sixes as well as podcasting.

I agree with you entirely. I think the problem is that many staff are still way behind the children and so are stifling progress. A colleague and I have just left our jobs and have written some training software for making radio programmes & podcasts and for the whole area of digital film making and editing. Check out... www.dfeducation.com
...we are also running some training programmes on these areas. In class the children, especially disaffected children, love anything like this because its something they can related to. There's not a day goes by where the word podcast isn't used on TV or radio, we need to be getting this into the classroom.
